The world around us is constantly changing. The physical products of this change are largely comprised of manufactured objects that we reside within or which reside around us. Architecture is, by far, the most universally tangible product we encounter on a daily basis.
Analysis and optimization of buildings to achieve a blend of elegance and efficiency is the pursuit of our practice. Sustainability is not our sole focus, however it is the inevitable result of good practice.
We will analyze the spatial needs and aspirations of your proposed built environment and translate them into the most creative, effective and efficient solutions. Efficiency is often associated with sterility. We believe that efficiency contains an inherent potential that can create a product that is simultaneously aesthetically appealing, elegant, relevant and responsible. For existing buildings we favor reconfiguration and reuse over additional square footage and for new buildings, quality of space and construction over quantity.
BBCO Design is a young, energetic company formed in October 2009 by Bhakti Bania and Bharat Baste. The officers of the company have several years of experience in various project types. Bhakti & Bharat have lived and worked in urban environments for the majority of their careers. Originally from Mumbai, India and long time residents of Columbus, Ohio they have an inherent understanding of dense, urban mixed use project types. Bhakti & Bharat are both graduates of the Ohio State University, registered Architects in the State of Ohio and have worked in Columbus over the past 10 years in various capacities.
Over the past couple of years since it’s inception, BBCO Design has successfully worked on several diverse projects including a mixed-use arts facility, student housing, urban redevelopment and daycares. The founders of the company jointly have over 25 years of experience in the field of architecture on projects both in the United States and in India.
BBCO Design, holding true to the company philosophy of efficient practices, continuously strives to find the most efficient and effective manner in which projects are designed and developed both in-house and along with clients, consultants and partners. We believe in planning and scheduling projects carefully, diligently following work plans and anticipating and effectively addressing any issues and conditions often encountered on large, complex projects. This extends to the manner in which we produce design and construction documents and help administer projects during construction.
Our design process relies heavily on the use of 3D models as both a visualization tool to aid us and our clients during the design process, as well as for the production of final construction documents. Color renderings are a by-product of our approach to help the entire project team better visualize the project. Our models are built to construction drawing accuracy during all phases of a project to ensure that what you see in an image is as close to what our clients would get as a finished, built product.
BBCO Design is a technologically savvy company that uses design & graphic software as an integral part of our process. We use both Mac & PC platforms and are equipped with smartphones, laptops and projectors to enhance communication between ourselves and our clients and consultants. We work electronically as much as possible and avoid continuously printing large size documents. We believe that this helps reduce waste of resources and reduce reimbursable expenses.
