Christina Sabula has been a vital part of the BBCO team since 2017, bringing leadership, technical expertise, positivity, and a whole lot of heart to every project she touches. As a Vice President and Project Architect, Christina plays a key role in shaping the future of our work and mentoring the next generation of designers.
We asked Christina a few questions so you can get to know her better:
Can you tell us about a project you’re most proud of and why?
"I’m incredibly proud to have been involved in the Hilltop Early Leaning Center project. In 2018, I was part of the team that created the initial conceptual exterior renderings, which ultimately helped us win the project. I continued to be a part of the design team throughout the entire process—from design and documentation to construction, which wrapped up in late 2023. I’ve learned so much from many incredible people along the way, and I take great pride in how it turned out and the positive impact it’s having on the community."
What do you love most about working at BBCO?
"What initially attracted me to BBCO when I joined in 2017 is still what I love most about it today—the people. We’re a close-knit team who care just as much about the work we produce as we do about each other. We genuinely want each other to succeed, both personally and professionally, which creates a supportive, positive, and lighthearted atmosphere (exactly how it should be when you spend 8 hours a day with one another!). As we expand and bring more people onto the team, we’ve been very intentional about preserving and nurturing this culture."
What’s your go-to creative fuel?
"Movement of any kind has always been a non-negotiable for me and helps me immensely as a daily reset. I'm typically an early riser, and I like to fit in my workout before the workday starts. I've found that this quiet time in the morning helps me begin the day on the right foot and gives me a burst of energy. Right now, I'm taking dance classes at my local gym, and I'm loving this new way to move and immerse myself in the music.”
“Also, coffee."
What advice would you give to someone just starting out in the field?
Shifting your mindset to remove phrases like “that’s not my job” can make a big difference. Approaching every task with enthusiasm and a positive attitude – whether it’s completely outside your comfort zone or technically below your role – will not only help you grow as a more versatile architect but also make you a valuable and respected team member. A “can-do” attitude goes a long way!

Christina's thoughtful approach to architecture, her dedication to team culture, and her belief in community-focused design make her an invaluable part of the BBCO family. We’re lucky to have her on our team!
